A Good Life, You Deserve
Updated: Jul 18, 2019
No one likes hard times. No one invites them, but they still show up. A minor headache or a misunderstanding with a coworker can often occur. That's normal, but pains issued from misfortune can potentially harm your job, your health, your relationships, your faith, or your self-being.
You know! A problem that's trying to bring you to nothing like the sudden loss of employment, a foreclosure, a failed business, an illness, a divorce, or the loss of a loved one; all those can destroy you if you fail to remain sane. I call them Goliath seasons; the toughest ones that cling to you like leeches.
Easier said than done, but you should always try to put every challenge into perspective. Life happens to all regardless of our financial status, educational accomplishments, level of maturity, or degree of spirituality. In African streets, we often say “life will deal with you.” The Word promises that rain falls equally upon the evil and the good (Matthew 5:45, King James). Obviously, how do you tell a mother who has just lost her child to put her tragedy into perspective? There are simply no words that can soothe that pain.
In reality, life can be cruel at times. It gets hard when we lack vision and trickier when we do in fact, strive to accomplish a goal. Henry Ford said that a plane takes off against the wind, not with it. Success demands that you be willing to fight the strong winds and deadly storms coming your way. Nothing of value will be freely handed to you. You must endure and persevere to achieve your dream.
Sacrifices also must be made. With it, the greater your destiny, the higher the degree of sacrifice. Whatever you possess today, you can lose at any moment. Sometimes, all at once. You have no control over tomorrow. You don't get to make the rules.
The good news is, life is kinder than it is cruel by nature. Even in the ruthless storms, if you pay close attention, life will hum melodies of hope and give you innovative ideas. If you stand still, it will create favors and open doors of opportunity where you expect them the least.
There's absolutely nothing life will throw at you that you cannot handle (1 Corinthians 10:13) because, contrary to appearances, you're not alone. Whether you're dealing with legal, family, or health issues, God is not blind to your situation, neither is He intimidated by it. He will see you through it. Just do your part.
Life is more interested in forging people of character. The trouble times are testing seasons during which you should learn more about humility, patience, and love. If you accept to carry your cross and run your race, you are guaranteed a breakthrough - your vision will eventually manifest. We wish we could predict the duration of the struggle; however, you will be surprised to meet who you can become after surviving a challenge. You will start thinking differently - loving differently - acting differently. You will feel renewed and ready to overcome the world, for more adversities are to come.
You can pray for miracles, and we do need those from time to time, especially when defeat is evident and you've found yourself at the bottom of the pit, but the most valuable life lesson will come from taking authority over your problems.
Blaming your parents, your relationships, your employers, your church, or your government for your downfalls never help solve anything. Though they may be responsible for your misfortune, you do have the final say about your story; and God will honor your decision. As Mary Pickford once said, "failure is not falling down but staying down." More often than you'd like, you will need to carry yourself up to see things change in your life. Your willingness to resolve a difficulty is your power over it. Be your own problem solver.
A life without hardships is death. So long as you are here, you are better off if you adopt an overcomer mindset. Pray to act with a fearless attitude and to believe with a purpose-driven faith. Your success is in our own hands and a good life, you deserve. Never doubt that.
